Cascadia Seaweed Takes the Stage at COP28

Cascadia Seaweed is honoured

to announce its participation at the

Conference of the Parties (COP) in Dubai.

Founder and Director, Bill Collins, has been invited by PLAN International Canada to participate in the Canadian Pavillion and to speak about global hunger and the climate crisis on the Harvesting Solutions panel, on Sunday, December 10 in the Blue Zone.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) serves as the pinnacle event for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), assembling global participants annually to deliberate on a broad spectrum of climate-related matters.

Cascadia Seaweed’s inclusion in COP underscores the impact of seaweed cultivation on climate solutions. This marks the company’s second invitation, following attendance at COP26. Cascadia Seaweed’s presence emphasizes its international standing as an authority in the seaweed space. The company’s expertise spans the spectrum of seaweed cultivation, from designing and building farms, developing seed and nursery technologies, to outplanting and harvesting techniques, and processing and producing value-added products while complying with a broad regulatory framework. This recognition reflects the company’s commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the pursuit of climate resilience.

“We are honoured to accept this invitation

and travel to Dubai for COP28,”

says Bill Collins.

“In addition to speaking about how seaweed cultivation and restoration can aid in solutions to global hunger and climate change, we aim to leverage this networking opportunity to identify and pursue new international development projects similar to our current

consulting project in Kenya led by Plan International

.”

Within 4 years, BC-based Cascadia Seaweed has grown to be the largest ocean cultivator of seaweed in North America. They are focused on maximizing the benefits of seaweed cultivation for ocean health and climate change while using their cultivated biomass to make land-based agriculture more sustainable by producing seaweed-derived biostimulants and agrifeeds. They are also offering consulting services to a global audience interested in innovative services and technologies related to seaweed cultivation and restoration projects to amplify those benefits for our collective survival.

“At Cascadia Seaweed we believe that through collaboration and innovation, we can create a better future for all.”
