This week, Cascadia Seaweed founders, Michael Williamson and Bill Collins, are out in the field, quite literally, engaging with our agricultural partners.
Our first commercial ag product, Sea-X, has been used as an ingredient by Planet Earth Agronomy in Wisconsin and blended into a new product formulation for use in vineyards, on chickpea plants and other crops.
Michael Williamson, speaking from the heart of the Planet Earth Agronomy warehouse, shares,
“It’s gratifying to collaborate with knowledgeable partners who recognize the value of seaweed-based solutions and share our commitment to responsible cultivation, both in the ocean and on land.”
Together, Cascadia Seaweed and Planet Earth Agronomy are dedicated to crafting regenerative products that empower farm businesses to achieve higher yields and sustainable practices, safeguarding our precious land for generations to come.
We’re thrilled to introduce our latest product, FieldKelp, derived from cultivated
Saccharina latissima
and
Macrocystis tenuifolia
, as a natural kelp extract developed to help plant growth and enhance crop yields.
Our first shipment, a robust 20,000 litres, has left the Dock+ in Port Alberni and is destined for farms in California. The enthusiasm from our distributor is palpable – he’s already eager for the next batch!
This milestone underscores the recognition and demand for kelp-based solutions in agriculture.
And for the ocean farmers at Cascadia Seaweed, it holds a significance that goes beyond the surface.
From nurturing the seed and monitoring its growth to harvesting and processing it into a valuable liquid, we take immense pride in showcasing true traceability from sea to soil.
In an era where climate change is the paramount challenge, the global food landscape stands at a critical crossroads.
Farmers are facing rising challenges amidst dwindling arable land, degraded soils, and mounting input costs along with regulatory pressures to reduce emissions.
Cascadia Seaweed is positioned to address these challenges with agricultural products derived from cultivated seaweed.
